An important reminder: All year 4 children will be going swimming on Thursday afternoons starting the first week back in January. Please ensure that they bring a swim bag with appropriate swimwear, towel and a swimming cap (which can be purchased from the office, if they're available).

Welcome to Class 4G

Dear Parents, Guardians, adults!!

4G have been so unbelievably busy this term that there has been little opportunity to document all of the amazing things that we have been doing!

After a very successful trip to Chester Zoo (excellent behaviour from all!), it would appear that the last few weeks of term are upon us, as we head full-throttle into Christmas.

My little holiday helpers have been working so hard making lovely paper-chains and Christmas stockings (thank you so much to any of the adults who came in to help!), and they're looking absolutely amazing! What talented children we have!

An example of what we have been doing in D.T. this half term.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the children for their hard work and cooperation in the run up to the Christmas production. It has been very intense, and there have been lots of changes and adjustments to the timetable, but the children have adapted well and have worked extra-hard.

Wishing everyone a very merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Miss Gellineau.

We had an absolutely fantastic time at our Christmas party! Thank you to everyone at home who helped to make it so amazing by providing our class with such lovely treats and decorations!

4G's Christmas party

I would like to remind you that all of year 4 have P.E. on Wednesday afternoons, so please try not to forget your kits! frown
In Science we have been learning all about animals, including humans. We have discovered lots of interesting and fascinating facts (some rather disgusting digestion ones, too!), and we also completed an experiment which tested the effects of various liquids on enamel. To do this, we left a boiled egg (the shell is a good substitute for teeth enamel) in a jar of water, one in fresh orange juice, one in vinegar, and one in Pepsi. This is what we discovered...
Picture 1 Not looking too bad...
Picture 2 Uh oh...
Picture 3 Nice. Firm shell, no changes. Water is good :)
Picture 4 WHAT IS THIS??? Dissolved shell, discoloured, slimy - can only be acidic vinegar! Bad vinegar!
Picture 5 Yuck! Brown, brittle and sticky - Pepsi is awful!!!
Picture 6 WHAT IN THE WORLD IS THIS?! The perils of sugar and acid - even when they're natural! Awful. Who could think that orange juice would do this much damage?

We have been having lots of fun learning all about Ancient Greece!
