RE

In Spring two, we will be studying a range of religious festivals. We started by discussing what festivals are and the things that all festivals have in common (e.g. food, family time, greetings, songs etc) We used what we found out to design our own festival and present information about it to the class. There were some very original ideas!

During the Autumn term, we have had some wonderful discussions about the main world faiths and their beliefs and traditions. We found out a lot of information, some of which you can read in the posters shown below which are from one of the educational programmes we used to support our learning.

We have been studying Easter as part of our festival topic. We had a trip to Bridge Chapel to learn about the reasons why Christians celebrate Easter. We experienced the Easter story and learnt about the symbolism behind it. Ask us about the significance of each of the objects below for Christians.

We used the website below to explore examples of religious festivals and to choose which ones to study.

We are learning about religious places of worship. We went to the Anglican cathedral to help us understand the features of a Christian place of worship. Here are some of the features we noticed there.

We have been having great fun studying and comparing the six main world religions. Can you name them? We have researched basic facts about their beliefs, signs, symbols, festivals, places of worship and traditions. In the next term we will look in more depth at the places of worship and their symbolism.
