Our good deed for the week was raising money for breast cancer by completing a one mile walk together. We had a lovely time and practised our friendship skills that we have been discussing.
We have been doing a lot of discussion about the importance of believing in ourselves and how we can boost our self esteem if we lack confidence or have a negative body image. Read some of the things that 5w live about themselves and think about what you love about yourself.

Today Miss.Doherty asked us to draw a picture of anything at all. We drew some beautiful pictures as seen below which we were very proud of. We gave each other compliments on our pictures. Then she made us scrunch them all up. 😤😌😲😢 This made us very sad but taught us a valuable lesson. We said sorry to our pictures and tried to get rid of all the marks but we couldn't get our pictures back. This showed us that words and actions can stay with people for a long time.
Many people would panic in an emergency situation. We have been practising what to do when someone is hurt and revising our first aid vocabulary. We role played phoning 999 for help and played some vocabulary games to ensure we know how to explain what is wrong with an injured or ill person.

We have learned about keeping safe in the sun, the dangers of UV rays and how we can work on preventing skin cancers in the future.

We looked at how to keep a healthy, balanced diet.
5D have done some fabulous work on body image. We looked at the importance of loving ourselves and accepting who we are. What a boring world it would be if we were all the same. We made mirrors to help us remember that we are special and should always appreciate ourselves.
5M loved exploring how different kinds of families can show us the same love.
Ever wondered how to be happy and healthy in your teenage years? We have discussed this in detail and have been creating some advice videos to help other understand how to achieve a good quality of life as a teenager.
5D have been looking at Healthy Eating and what we can do to eat a healthy, balanced diet.
We looked at the different food groups and created our own TV adverts about Healthy Eating!

We have been discussing the importance of a positive body image and have been thinking of the advic we could offer to those who have a negative body image.
Today, we discussed what makes a family. We also discussed the different types of families that people can have. We celebrated the wonderful Hingis that all families have in common.
We have also looked at the needs of people with specific dietary requirements and have sorted foods into ones that they can eat and ones that they can't eat.
Year 5 have been learning about what a healthy balanced diet is. We have been identifying what different food types provide our bodies and how much of each groups of foods we should be eating.
