6J - Mr Manning
Welcome to our class page. I plan to post some resources to support your children's learning of the Year 6 National Curriculum, as well as provide some information about your children's working week.
I have attached a timetable to show you what learning activities your child will access each week and when. I stick rigidly to the posted timetable to ensure curriculum coverage and to provide consistency and predictability. The children are then able to build upon their independence in learning as they know exactly what to expect each day. Where activities are highlighted in green, the children will be practising their reading skills, blue their knowledge of grammar, punctuation and spelling, grey will be arithmetic skills and yellow, Maths reasoning.
I place a lot of importance on improving my students' reading ability, and we engage with lots of high quality texts. It is essential for children to be reading often and regular both at home and at school to develop their love of reading, enhance their knowledge, build their confidence and improve their cognitive abilities. It is essential for your child to have a book they are reading throughout the academic year. They can access books via our class and school library, our home reader scheme or an appropriate book of their own.
I look forward to getting to know you all this academic year 26/27 as we work together to help your children learn, grow and develop into positive and confident young people ready to take on the next stage of their education at secondary school.
