Governors' Information

Meet Our Governors:

John Edwards

I joined the governing body as a parent governor in 2012. Since this time, it has been a pleasure to contribute to a school that has devoted teachers and a headteacher who is dedicated to ensuring that the school provides the best education possible. My aim as a Governor is to continue to support the school to improve and maintain its standards, and to assist with ensuring that the children receive an enjoyable learning experience through outstanding teaching in a caring and supporting environment.

I am passionate about education and believe that children should be at the centre of everything that happens at school. They need to feel happy, secure and safe before they can learn to their best ability. I feel our governing body supports the headteacher, staff and parents in achieving this. Being a governor at Booker Avenue has given me the opportunity to see things from the other side and it gives me working a great sense of achievement that with the rest of the governors we can plan and work alongside the school to support the children in their education. I started my first governing role when my youngest child started reception at Booker Avenue Infant School and then joined the Junior Governors when she moved upto year 3. I am still on both governing bodies and feel this is a valuable way of being a part in the flow of the whole infant to junior journey.

I became a parent governor in October 2015.  Whilst I work in the legal sector, I have always had an interest in education wanted to become a governor in order to contribute something to, and gain an insight into, the development and running of the school my children will, between them, be attending for the next seven years.  I also appreciate how lucky we are to have an excellent community school on our doorsteps offering both an excellent education and a wide range of extra-curricular activities, and wanted to play a part in ensuring that continues to be the case and that the school goes from strength to strength.”

Stephanie Lumley I became a parent governor in October 2015. I wanted to take on the role so that I could play a part in shaping the prospects of the school which my son attends, especially with another child to follow in his footsteps. Booker Avenue Junior school will be part of our life for the next seven years and I hope to be able to contribute to its continued success and good reputation. I operate a children’s activity programme in Liverpool and have experience of working with children, staff and the public. I hope my experience in children’s development, management and as a parent will ultimately help Booker Avenue Junior School to go from strength to strength.

Richard Thompson

During my three years at Booker, I have really enjoyed working with the members of the Governing Body. Together, we aim to improve the outcomes for all the children of the school; academically, socially, physically and spiritually.  The Governors here have the local community at heart and many have a long association with the school. I am proud to be able to bring my ideas and outlook to the groups and help the school to move forward.
